This graduate level certificate will focus on the preparation of staff and faculty to assume leadership roles in postsecondary, vocational and adult educational settings. Particular areas of focus include: history and philosophy of postsecondary education, effective communication, community engagement, nontraditional and adult education, and competency in applied or field research.
Required Courses: (each course is 3 credits, certificate is 18 credits total)

Students
who complete the proposed certificate will demonstrate:
How the curriculum achieves the learning outcomes:
- Active learning. The certificate courses will be led as participatory seminars in which participants learn through discussion, interactive/experiential activities, observation, and shared reflections in the class meetings.
- Learning community. Courses in the certificate program will function as learning communities in which every member shares responsibility for the collective learning experience of the group.
- Involvement of learners’ experiences.
- Practice-based learning projects. Assignments and learning activities will be designed to encourage participants to address questions, issues and/or problems from their own professional practice.
- Connection of theory and practice. A guiding theme of the proposed certificate program is the integration of theoretical, conceptual knowledge with experience and practice-based knowledge. Participants will be challenged to draw the theory – practice connections throughout the full certificate.
- Culminating project. Through the applied or field research project, each participant will demonstrate competency in problem identification and the collection and analysis of data to address the problem.
Can this certificate program apply to a Master’s Degree?
Yes! The MS Educational Leadership degree program will accept all credits.How?

Class registration: Use your Titan ID number to register for any class. If you are not currently a student at UW Oshkosh, fill out a paper graduate registration form and mail to Graduate Studies (available on Graduate Studies Forms page)
