| School Success Is Up To You! |
| |
| The curriculum of Tipler Middle School has been designed so that
every student will be able to successfully earn at least a grade of
“C” in every class. Being successful is up to you. Do
the following to start yourself in the direction of success: |
| |
1. Be Organized.
Use a three ring binder with a different colored folder for each class
or an accordion file folder with files for each class.
Write down every assignment for every class every day. If you are
not sure what the assignment is, ask you teacher at the end of class.
Show the planner to your parents every night so that you have someone
helping you make sure all assignments are complete. Your parents are
on your side. Let them help you be successful.
Keep several spiral notebooks on hand for note taking. Never use the
same notebook for more than one subject.
Take erasers, pencils, and other school materials with you to every
class. |
| |
| 2. Begin working on assignments as soon as they are given.
Putting work off until later is an open invitation to failure. Hand
in completed work as soon as you finish. |
| |
| 3. Ask parents and teachers for help when you don’t
understand what to do. No one can know that you need help
if you don’t ask for it. And remember – no one is truly
successful without the help of others. |
| |
| 4. Set your mind on being successful – be determined.
Don’t let anything or anyone pull you off the path to you goals.
Give yourself positive messages or self talk. No one can make you
feel bad about yourself without your permission. |
| |
| 5. Work in a quiet place without things that will distract
you from your work. That means no T.V., music, phone calls,
emails, visitors, food or other distractions. |
| |
| 6. Learn from your mistakes. No body is perfect! When
something doesn’t work out the way you would like, figure out
why and then do it differently the next time. An error doesn’t
become a mistake until you repeat it. |
| |
| 7. Accept responsibility for the choices you make.
Your family and teachers can encourage and assist you, but they can’t
do the work for you. Success is up to you! |
